One way to confirm its a true Firehawk is look for the RPO code WU6 inside the door. I am not fully sure of this, but I believe since it was manufactured in Canada, that would make it a Hawk, I might be wrong about that though. Maybe someone with more Hawk knowledge can confirm the Canada thought.Last edited by Y2KPewterSS; 08-11-2007 at 04:38 PM.

i just recently went through this also when i was buying my Hawk....you need to look for the WU6 inside the door...also if you go to www.firehawk.org ...they have list of all the vins that were in production, if you put that vin in you can find out.

To clarify what has become a confusing situation for certain enthusiasts, SLP Engineering, Inc. did not produce 1998 model year Firehawks at its Montreal, Quebec, Canada production facilities.
SLP did however add Firehawk content to 6 1998 model Trans Ams and Formulas. That work was performed at our Troy, Michigan facility. The 6 vehicles were purchased locally from Pontiac/GMC dealers, converted in Troy, then used for 1998/9 model year marketing and sales activities.
In addition, it should be noted these vehicles do NOT contain the GM RPO WU6 option code. While these vehicles do contain Firehawk content, they are NOT considered production Firehawks by SLP.

Sorry I should have clarified. I meant the numbers on the Trans Ams not firehawks. But that is interesting.

Hey guys just to make this easier, here's a link to the zip file with the ASC 1998 info:
http://www.bobsavage.net/misc/1998_WS-6Numbers.zip
That is from a differnt post, under ASC numbers, in that thread this is best i could do for ya, from what i know, there are still about 2400 cars missing for 1998...but you should read that thread

I am confused, are you saying the 6 '98 models don't have the WU6 RPO code? The firehawk.org site doest state the WU6 RPO code was for '99-'02 models. I think thats what you mean, but not positive.
Good info to know, and thanks for correcting my error.

That is correct, there were only 6, 1998 model Trans Ams and Formulas with Firehawk content. from my post earlier is says that...however i understand what you are confused about...There are 6 trans ams/firebirds out there, from 1998 that have firehawk accessories on them but are not considered actual "firehawks", hence they do not have the WU6 RPO.

if u go there it will tell exactly what i said...hopefully that clears up your confusion

Call SLP and give them your VIN. Or PM David Hamburger on the LS1 "tech" website and he can tell you what SLP options were put on it if it truly is a Firehawk, and the build number.

I wasn't talking of the conversion place for the hawks. sorry for any confusion. It does make sense that all 4th gens would have been manufactured in Canada. It really wouldn't make sense to have more than one assembly plant where they would manufacture the same car. I wasn't sure if that was the case though.
