Black- 99 Trans Am WS6
Ram Air Only on WS6?
Question is simple. I have 99 Trans Am. It has 16in Rims and no special badges, but it has Ram Air. At first I thought I was buy the WS6 since I knew nothing about Pontiacs being the Ford guy that I was. This car was beautiful so I had to get it. Was this normal for some basic Trans Am models or did someone add the ram air hood and functional air box after it left the factory?

If your door doesn't have WS6 on the door, it didn't orginally have that hood from the factory.

Don't forget about the all important power steering cooler, only on WS6 models.

Muffler is the only difference all pipes are same as stock non WS6 Cars
Nullified since most go with aftermarket anyways
Probably the only good thing about the pkg
Exactly, You can upgrade the suspension for alot less then the WS6 Pkg cost.
BTW guys mine isn't a WS6 either I got the hood at a Swapmeet for $250 back in `99. Everything else has been upgraded to well beyond the WS6 equipment. And I've never tried to pass the car off as a clone.Craig

Does your air filter get dirty quickly? I'm assuming your FRA mod is the one where you get the air from under the car/goes up in front of the rad under a little pressure? I've always wondered about that. Also, there is some debate about the temp of the air, getting it from so near the street/in front of the radiator, that it's warmer this way. Getting it from the hood, sealed to the airbox, may be a little cooler. I guess the temp thing could be settled by driving and comparing IATs on the same day, ideally by talking to each other while on the road with scanners hooked up.
BTW, Chickenfoot ROCKS.

There was a guy over on Tech that did a test comparing IAT readings with and with out the FRA. At idle the temp was higher with the FRA but as soon as the car started moving the readings were cooler then without the FRA.
And yes the filter needs cleaning more frequently.
