    Ram air box...what's needed??

OK guys, I just bought a ram air box asm (upper and lower) from a yard and was curious what else I need to make my car a functional Ram air car. I have a trufiber hood also. Will I need to buy ram air kit for my hood now??? I have no idea what a stock ram air hood looks like on the inside. Pics would be great.

    Thanks

So it's just open??? There's no gasket that seals to the air box or anything???

If so, I shouldn't have to do anything but add the air box, correct???

I ended up going to Autozone and grabbing some 1" window stripping and putting it around the edge and sealing it.

Did they do anything from the factory or did you do that just for more condensed air flow???

There really isnt much of a difference, just the RA box has a slightly bigger opening and is angled up higher, its the same air lid--witch is junk go with a SLP air lid, youll get more out of the lid than the box. I opened my air box (bottom) up with my dremil, I thought I felt some difference but it might have been mental.

With the hood its just 2 open ports I think. All ram air really is, is just a direct cold air intake, The normal TA and Formula work on the same basis just draws air from under the front clip and not as much from the hood. Really there is no power differnce between the RA trans am and the regular TA, all it is is looks.

And no there is no gasket..

The picture I posted is from the factory, I did the weatherstripping so no air would leak while traveling from the hood to the airbox.

Excellent info. This will save me a few bucks 'cause I thought about buying that kit.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for an SLP lid.

    Thanks all

bah...don't get the SLP lid...it rubs on the hood...Whisper Lid or MTI Lids are better fitting.

SLP lid hasn't rubbed on either of my hoods. I know I would've noticed since it's painted and clearcoated. Maybe you got one with a little deformity.

When I was at the LS1.com Picnic, ALL of the SLP lids had hood rub marks and there were at least 3 there (Spaz included )
