Good = Pick up a couple extra HP bypassing the exhaust and your car is a lot louder

Bad = Your neighbors won't like you, getting under the car to open it or the electric solenoid seizing.

Just curious was hearing the cutout could mess up my tune. So the only big draw back is noise?

I asked the guy who did my tune about a cut out and he said that most times you loose hp because you cant tune your car on the fly and after seeing a few people race with them its just a attention getter nothing more!!

I had my car tuned on the dyno, full exhaust (LTs,ORY,magnaflow) it made 428 RWHP and 421RWTQ. I opended the cutout on the same tune and it made 430 RWHP and 426 RWTQ.

its such a small difference you wont even notice and there is really no draw back to it because the exhaust is partially still flowin through your original exhaust. NTM why would you put a cutout on a car if you dont like it to be loud every once and a while

From what I've read you gain HP but lose a little torque.

I like 'em because nothing sounds like so much fun like open headers!!! I had my ORY off doing some welding and couldn't resist I did a 1 min open header in my garage. Set off car alarms for 2 blocks My neighboor comes over and told me when I started it up he jumped off his chair and knock over his drink

one of the most fun mods I've done to my car. With heads/cam and no cats though you can't really run it open around town. Cops can hear you coming miles before you get there. It's fun to have though when someone throws you a rev at a stop light.

A while back I was in a buddies Camaro. He had all the bolt ons and a cut out. A Honda with a Fart Can keep revving it up in front of him trying to show off to a car full of girls. My buddy pushes the cut out button and gives off a rev himself. Everyone turns around, girls are The Honda guy slides down into his seat and couldn't wait till the light turn green.

the whole purpose of a cut out is to bypass the muffler/exhaust system. 99% of the people out there put them directly under the rear passenger seat.

i drove my car open headers 15 minutes to a muffler shop, it was freaking sweet but im sure people HATED me because it was 7 in the morning i would have to say that was just too much for me... a cut-out on each side will be the way i go for my next exhaust mod!!!
