Paint jobs are all in the prep work.
The Shops charge all the money for the hours of wetsanding they do.
IMO if your color isn't in to bad a shape it could be scuffed and recleared.
Your best bet is to shop around for the best price or ask around at shows for someone you shoots cars on the side.Craig

Damn that sucks, i have a lot of stone chips on mine that i want taken care of. Do you think it would be a bad idea to redo the hood, and the head lights? thats were most are, then get the clear coat redone? I don't drive it everyday anymore, but it got some chips from before when i did.

Hood and headlights should be under $1000 IMO. I could get it done for $150 but you wouldn't like it 2 yrs from now

Do you think that if i did the hood and lights the rest of the car would look uneven if you know what i mean? Or no if i get the clear coat done at the same time? THanks again.

Alright, how about, the entire car. BUT, Not having them spray/clean tediously the engine compartment or underneath. Just where you can see it and inside the door jams. Not a full on color change, same color again. How much would that run a guy? I really really really want to get racing stripes, but not if it is that expensivev.

With out all that u still lookin at like 6-8 grand..just depends on what shop u go to and what kind of paint they use..seems crazy i know, but u get what u pay for :-( best bet would be to take 9T8W66's advice and see if u can get someone to do it on the side...look at shows and just start callin around..good luck
and to answer sfletch2000's question..about the pic..lets just say thats a VERY good pic, in dusk or dawn it looks that clean but in direct sunlight not so much..thanks tho

My parents last car was t-boned by a dumb woman driver who ran a stop sign then fled the scene only to come back later when the ambulance had arrived...I mean the car was like trashed hardcore. I thought it was totalled, done for. But it was new, so they saved it. The drivers door was pushed in at least foot and a half. Seat was jarred loose and bending center console. A lot of work was done. All they did was paint the new panels they put on it. You would never have guessed it was ever wrecked. Paint was perfect match. Amazing.

If you have good full coverage insurance, you can get a new stock paint job for just the cost of your deductible. I had rock chips in mine due to someone peeling out in front of me on a dirt road. I called my insurance company and they said "Ok, we can file it under vandalism and you just pay the deductible."

If you have a community college or a Vo-tech school around they will only charge you materials...The only downside is that students are working on but with a professional supervising.

Does the vehicle have damage that needs to fixed also? door dings, etc. Have the front bumper stripped along with the headlamp doors. Repair the chips in the hood with filler. Put color on the the entire nose of the car and clear it all if there is no damage needing repair. You could get it done for 4K
