PCV Valve Boot with ground wire?
While one a dyne and a tune this weekend after the last two runs I had some blue spoke after the throttle was released. I went to replace the PCV Valve this evening and found it not to be the typical valve location... It is inside a rubber tube with a flange wrapped around it connected to a bracket attached to the block... the boot that held the PCV valve had deteriorated enough that it came apart while pulling the PCV Valve out. No one seems to know where to get this part or what it is.. I have attached a picture. Anyone who has a clue on it would be a huge help! The strap is only so that the pcv valve warms up quicker. YOu can buy the whole system for ~$100. Or go to AutoZone, get the new PCV valve with a smaller outlet hole, some fuel hose that fits it, then some bigger hose that fits the other end of the PCV valve, then go to home depot, get a brass barbed tee, soem clamps, and a male adapter. Clamp everything back together. THat is what I did. Here is the post I used as a guide. And screw that strap, unbolt it from the crossover tube, and throw it in the extra parts box. I did.http://www.ls1.com/forums/f6/pcv-val...ication-80151/

here's a write up on replacing the pcv valve.....the metal strap is actually a grounding strap so that a static spark doesn't ingite the vapors. I personally just removed that strap altogether when I redid my pcv valve.

I think for the short term until a catch can is shipped I'm not going to replace the whole system, thats just a waste of useful money towards something else. I have the parts needed to make my own now. However, are there any negatives to a catch can?

Navy Blue Metallic- 98 T/A w/ mods, 00 FBVert
none.
These 2 threads are also good reads on another option. Requires a little work, but worth it.
