    P0418 code

The P0418 code is driving me crazy. All secondary air systems seem to be fine but it keeps setting this code.
    - Air pump output fine
    - fuse and relay fine(of course, the pump works)
    - solenoid works and has vacuum
    - actuating valve opening with vacuum
    - 2 check valves into engine working (feel vacuum when on)
Thats all of the equipment and its working so why the code. Does anyone have a copy of the 2002 repair manual for code P0418. I would like to look at that. I ahve the 1998 but its a different system.

Just get a mail-order tune and cancel the system out, useless anyways and just causes headaches IMO :duuno:

What is a good brand, link , and is there any danger of screwing up the car?

Frost is very good at it, and no danger is screwing up the car. It'll actually help it, do you have any other mods on it?

I would suspect that the check valves are bad and are allowing exhaust to back up into the system. Pull the hoses and start the car - see if there is a noticeable difference from right to left in sound and if exhaust gases are being expelled from the check valves.

    codes

I pulled the air hose and felt the input to the exhaust on startup, there was a vacuum which seems good. I need to check both valves because one could be bad. Now p0418 seems to have disappeared and p0430 and p1416 have tripped. I have opened up a can of worms.

Running the car with the hoses pulled may have tripped more codes. That could be the reason for the passenger side secondary air code and catalyst efficiency. Clear the codes and I bet you are simply back to your original issue.
