    Non ram air trans am

My friend just bough a TA, non ram air. And hes gonna throw 2k into it, and I'm piling up a descent list and my question is how do lids work since there is no ram air setup and do you think he should pass it if it comes down to him needing a new hood

The "ram air" on ws6 models is nearly non-existent. In stock form, the top nostrils barely pull any air because of some covers they have behind the plastic mesh. Some people, including myself, remove the covers, but I'm not too sure if this gives any extra power. The ws6 models also have a raised air box, but again, I don't believe this makes any difference. Most of the air in our cars comes from the bottom of the car. A lid fits all ls1 fbodies, regardless of being a ws6, T/A, z28, ss, etc.

SLP Airlids fit fine, no clearance issues. Make sure he does the free air mod too.

    <<I have the flat hood.

I considered the RAM air hood an appearance mod more than anything. Flow wise, I did the free RAM air mod cutting the piece to bring air in from underneath and felt like I lost a little when putting the RAM air hood/ enlarged air box on. (tho butt Dyno fail often).

But I don't think there's anything as sexy looking as a 4th gen ws6. Performance, grab a lid

Alright thanks guys, my biggest question was if the lid actually fits. In my mind if my lid barely fits under a ws6 hood how does it fit under a flat beak hood. Thanks for the info

The WS6 has a raised airbox(the plastic piece your lid sits on). A regular bird does not.

Right, I just didn't think it was enough clearance even without the raised box

The ws6 ram air air box and lid will NOT fit under a flat hood. I know.I have been down that road. If you install ws6 ram air box you must install a ram air hood. The stock formula air box has about a 1" air gap and the ws6 is about 2"
    You hood will not close

a slp lid will fit on the lower air box that came with the vehicle.but you are absolutely correct about putting a ws6 box and lid under a non ws6 hood

Na I know that the lid alone will fit but not with the ws6 raised intake. Thanks guys.

How much difference is that lmp performance setup as far as performance goes?
