From what it sounds like (having 2 06 cars) like you might have a good amount of $$$ so I would go for the best exhaust in my opinion and get a full borla exhuast,

A you can add and x and still be true duals im prty sure. All it would be is 2 pipes to an X and 2 on out with whatever else you do muflers or what not. The X is more for sound than anything but does slightly help performance(same with an H). Straight pipe(s) is an exhaust without a mufler of resonator of some sort. Usually those are duals but you could have a straight pipe with a Y. Thats my understanding correct me if im wrong but thats prty close.

Yes. the X pipe helps balance the exhaust flow between the cylinder banks.

Im getting true duals put in this week. You cant have true duals with a Y-pipe. Your option is either straight pipes, X-Pipe, or H-pipe. The best way to go is X or H. X pipe gives you more horse power and torque at lower rpms. H pipe gives you horse power and torque at higher rpms, and it is louder then the x pipe. Im not sure how much power and torque is going to give you, but I hear the x pipe gives more, but not sure on that. And btw..Im getting bassani True duals.

I would say the best headers are eaither QTP or kooks. but they cost a pretty penny.

I thought the X pipe gave more HP and and H pipe gave more torque plus the H pipe has a better sound to it but thats opinion. The LS1 already has lots of torque already.
