    need ram air hood measurements.

I'm looking for someone on the forum with a 98 and newer factory style ram air hood who will take a tape measure and tell me the height of the runners on the hood. I need 3 measurements 1) height of runner where it starts. (2) height of runner at its maximum height and how far in down the hood is the max height reached. (3) height of runner when it reaches back of hood. I am going to make a mold and build a ram air hood but I can't do it without the height of the runners. Thanks much.

Even though my cars a 95 I'm upgrading to the 98 and newer sheet metal, so I need measurements for 98 and newer hood.

Yes I know you can buy one used at a reasonable price, but I'm one of the last people on earth who enjoys the challange of mahing your own. And yes it will be fiber reinforced plastic. But I intend on making the hood from kevlar cloth for extreme strength and lightness and epoxy resin because it is lighter , stronger and more flexable then polyester resin. Nobody on the market offers a hood of this type. And thanks Schmalgar, I will be waiting for those measurements.

Right now even a sun coast bigger then stock would help me out. It would give me the extreme , on which I can scale down to look like a stock ram air hood.

OK, due to the structure on the underside of the hood, it's hard to get accurate measurments. But it seems that the runners start out at 3-1/2in height in the front and taper down to 2-1/2in height at the windshield. It looks like it maintains the 3-1/2 until about halfway up the hood.

But as mentioned, it's hard to get good measurements. You may want to see if you can find a local member on here who will let you see his hood in person.

Let me know if you want any other numbers on it, I'll do what I can.

Thanks thats exactly what I needed. The numbers don't have to be right on the money, as the hood I make will be close to original but will have some of my own design in there.
Thanks again and a tip of the hat to you.

Suscribed for progress pics. Imho it maybe better just to do as you are and make the hood.. The aftermarket hoods that I've seen around here and elsewhere all seem to have fitment problems.. Giant gaps, here and there, low and high spots, makes the cars look terrible in my oppy.. Just my .02...Good luck!

Thanks for the good luck post. Making a hood involves many hours but once the mold is made, you can make as many hoods as you want. If enough interest is generated, I could do a write up giving step by step instructions in the process.
