Need help identifying this formula ramair
Guys,
I work with a guy who has a 98 ramair formula a4. I just got a real good look at the car and something doesn't seem right but I'm not sure. The hood has a square hole with weather stripping around it that fits over a K&N. The ram air inlets seem to flow straight into this filter making it a real nice ramair setup. Question: Is it stock? I looked at the door sticker and can't find the WS6 code. Instead I see WS9. Is this a real Ramair Formula? I own SS's so I really don't know about pontiacs but I would have thought the R/A setup would be similiar.
Thanks guys

Pewter Metallic- 2001 Trans Am WS.6
Mr Luos is right. WS9 is the formula RPO code. WS6 is the rpo for the ram air pkg. The hood would be the same as the trans am ws6. Doesnt sound like a real one, doesnt sound like the stock hood either.

Well it's got the ws9 code on the driver door sticker. Are you saying it needs to be WS6 for a formula with the ram air pkg too? I just thought the ramair hood looked different enough to question it. The inlets look more rounded than a TA. and it has a square hole with weather stripping that fits over the open air filter element that is sitting on top where a lid would normally go. Man I think this guy will be disappointed if it's not real. He's had it for a year. It only has 38k on it. I prolly won't tell him.

sounds like a clone to me. The hood sounds to be an aftermarket one. WS9 is code for formula and ws6 is code for the performance package with ram air. So in order to be a factory formula ram air it has to have both codes.

I see. Hmmm. Would you tell the guy his ride is a clone? How would you like it if your bud told you your ride was a clone? Should I let it go? I mean he is happy with it and stuff.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
I have that "weather stripping" on my ram air too, and my car is a ws.6. Thats an after market thing-it's basically what you said, some stiff weather stripping/foam stuff that seals the hood scoops to the ram air; that way the air entering doesn't blow debris all over your engine/keeps the air stream directly inline with the intake.
