Mod Question on 98 Fbodies
Hey Guys Im new hear and Im crossing over from the Offroad jeep world once I get My modified 06 Wrangler sold. Im currently looking a a few Fbodies in my area ranging from 98-02. My question is I have Heard from my buddy that goes to UTI that the 98 model year has some quirks in the computer that doesnt allow it to accept computer mods as easily as the 99-02 models.
I also noticed that on SLP's web site there isn't any Programmers available for a 98. I am wondering because I found a really nice low mileage T/A and The last thing I want is to throw the whole SLP exhaust package and MAS air on it and not be able to tune it out to tie all the mods in correctly.
Thanks for your time. Sorry if I sound like a moron lol Im still new to the LS series motors and seem to be a whole world different form the lt-1s and old school 350s Ive worked on Before!

Red Tint Jewelcoat- 2008 Trailblazer SS
Never visit SLP's site again.
That would be your best start.
Do NOT buy any parts from SLP either. No customer service, overpriced, bloated HP claims. Ask most anyone.
Do not go with a computer programmer. You are wasting money. Tune or nothing.2008 Trailblazer SS
Yank PTB3600, Kooks 1 7/8" LT's, 4" intake, E-fans, Magnaflow, Sonnax kit, tranny cooler, tune.
Lowered, HID's, tinted.

yea Thanks for your help guys that makes me feel good about going to get this bird. I got talked out of the SLP stuff By my buddy who has a 93 with a rear mount sts turbo. He said the only nice thing they have is there long tube headers and cats.
The dynomax rep was in town traning us on Jeep exhausts on friday and after hearing some sound clips of his personal 98 SS I think that is the way im going to go especially with the discount i get on their stuff!!!

Slp headers suck as well.
The only good thing they make is their new better fitting lid.
I had a 98ss and I loved it. I still miss it.
Tell us about this car you are looking at.

Well its a 98 6 speed car with 35k miles and t-tops. The guy only wants 14k and it looks great in the pictures. We shall see in real life this week. Its just a Trans am not a WS6 however it has all the options I wanted short of being a WS6 amd os all stock still. Im Just hoping the jeep is gone within the next week or two so I can go grab that thing!
So what headers do you guys recomend? Id prefer something stainless as I live up north for the time being and wont be taking the TA back to florida for another year untill school is finished.

98s have better built steering wheel controls that won't break so easily and have better throttle response.
