ls7 swap in 2000 trans am

i'm getting a stock ls7 motor and was wondering on what the process is or if theres other threads on what the steps are for getting this motor in a 2000 trans am with the dry oil sump design. Don't care about the $$ just wondering on stuff like if i can use a z06 tranny and the throttle body issue (cable to FBW). and if i'll have to update the rear. Whats going to bolt on and whats going to have to change? Any suggestions?

I would def go with aftermarket driveshaft and a 12 bolt rear if not a 9inch. And you will def have to worry about the wiring harness, as far as the dry oil sump I remember reading about a gto that under went this process and I do believe they had to do alot of cutting and fab work to make it work.

corvettes have a transaxle, so the transmission wont work, unless you install the vettes entire IRS system, in which case, have fun and good luck.

heres an LSx 454 trans am and an LS7 Camaro: (the camaro has the dry sump system.)

I will tell you that buying and installing an LS7 will be a long and costly road, a 6.0 LS2 will install much easier and leave more than enough money to put it well above the numbers a stock LS7 will push.

I do believe he said money isnt a factor, so with money anything is possible, the big question is are you doing the build yourself?

If money isn't an issue....LS7 block isn't what I am looking at.

You know they make wet sump conversions right? Probly a lot less hassle than trying to go the dry sump route. I also think you can convert the FBW to cable drive, I am not 100% sure on this though. If not you will need the whole setup from a Z06 including the gas pedal.

I have a friend who put a ls7 in his 2000 trans am. He went twin turbo and from what I have heard it's pretty insane. ran mid 8's at the track and I think it was like 14lbs of boost or some shit like that... I would have to talk to him to find out for sure

OP said he is "getting" a ls7.I assume that means either a)he is acquiring a used engine from a zo6 or b)has buckets of money and wants a ls7.we all know there are much more money efficient ways of producing stock ls7 horsepower figures.
