ls1 or ls6?
So I was just thinking it may sound dumb but my 2002 ws6 has the ls6 block and intake why is it still considered a ls1? Would a simple head cam swap make it a ls6? Just curious why its classified as such lol. Just my thoughts traveling.

Silver & Blue- 02 Camaro SS, 04 GTO
At the end of the 2002 year they were already using the LS6 intake and when they ran out of LS1 blocks some late production vehicles got the LS6 block. There are more parts involved with the LS6 than just heads and a cam but I am not sure which ones are different.
My ride is a 2002 Camaro SS SLP #3296 with 30k, LTH, 3" Y, CME, Frost tune, K&N, ported TB, Blackwing lid, Bellows, MSD, Denso Iridium, and 85mm MAF, Bilsteins, Eibach springs, SLP strut brace, Adj. Panhard, TA Girdle, UMI, Pro 5.0, Nitto NT555
My wife has a 2004 GTO with the rare SAP, 18" wheels, K&N Cold Air System, MSD, Ported TB, Frost tune, Denso Iridium, Flowmaster cat-back, 3200 Yank, 75k

Yes they did but only the 03-up ones. In 01 and 02 the ls6 had its seperate valley cover and would pull pcv air from the valley but it still had an external pcv. In 03 they redesigned the cover and incorporated the pcv under the valley cover
Not true. All 02-04 z06's and 04-05 cts-v had the ls6 engine and got sodium valves. The springs being yellow really didnt have anything to do with it. I've seen some ls6 motors with blue springs, gray springs or yellow ones. I've also seen some ls2's with yellow springs but they have regular valves. If you get 243's from a ls6 engine in a cts or z06 it will have light valves, if you dont know what car it came out of the only way to know for sure is to weigh them.
