I do not know very much about the FTP lids except they are expensve and have an 85mm neck, not the 75mm neck on the SLP's. I do not know how they fit either. I like the Blackwing lid but they are out of production.
My ride is a 2002 Camaro SS SLP #3296 with 30k, LTH, 3" Y, CME, Frost tune, K&N, ported TB, Blackwing lid, Bellows, MSD, Denso Iridium, and 85mm MAF, Bilsteins, Eibach springs, SLP strut brace, Adj. Panhard, TA Girdle, UMI, Pro 5.0, Nitto NT555
My wife has a 2004 GTO with the rare SAP, 18" wheels, K&N Cold Air System, MSD, Ported TB, Frost tune, Denso Iridium, Flowmaster cat-back, 3200 Yank, 75k

I've heard of issues of them hitting the hood. I've seen regular SLP lids rub. Personally i think it's overkill

IMO you'd be best off with an slp lid

For the most part... a lid is a lid. There may be fitment issues and such, but they will most all net you the same gains. With the SLP lid, you have to ensure that the front edge of the lid is positioned BEHIND the lip of the lower air box.

...and stay away from K&N filters.

MAF hates to be oiled, and your motor does'nt like the dirt they let by..

I still have my drop in.. Works great for holding down my trash can liners.. Best 80+ bucks I ever spent..

You won't regret it. It's one of the first mods you should do, really.
