Leather(???) interior; what material is it really?

What material are the "leather" seats and "leather" trimmings on the Firebird? Are they real leather(doubt it)? Vinyl? Some other knock off?

Yeah, I think they are. I have a dime size tear in my driver's upper wing. It looks very thin, but it looks like leather.

ONLY THE FRONT SEATING SURFACES ARE LEATHER, THE REST IS VINYL. THE BACK AND SIDES ARE VINYL AND THE REAR SEATS ARE ALL VINYL.

I'm thinking about getting some sudo leather seat covers from Advance Auto or something. They are pretty comfortable and look pretty good. $40 for a set if my memory serves me correctly. Had em on my old white Firebird and liked them.

in a few years my "leather" seats and the power components are coming out and in go 2 lightweight seats, no back seat.

does anyone treat or condition their leather seats?

something tells me theyre gonna be red... you get a big phoenix on your hood or back window yet? gary mentioned you were looking into that.

How much lighter are they? I have thought about buying aftermarket seats. I just REALLY dont want them to look cheesy or ricey.

Whats the average weight loss? That would be the deciding factor for me. Also, how much they running you? Thanks

i have to check in a catalog i have at home (at work right now) for $$$ and lbs., but considering putting in manual race seats eliminates the power seat motors and the air compressor for the lumbar and side bolsters, im guessing theres a nice drop in weight. plus then theres the holes in the seat back for a race harness for when i get into the 11's for the 1/4 mile, thus neccessitating a roll cage and harness bar. its never ending...

btw, no ricey parts for my ride!!!! i kick ricers in the nuts

i havent seen it...would love to though! i havent seen your car since last october i think. im trying to figure out what color to get for a bird on my back window, but havent decided if i want to do that or one on the hood. come to think, i havent seen many f-bodies off LS1 in a while

Well, a lot has changed about the car since last October. TTII rims and Falken FK452 tires to start. Took off some of the red and replaced with white. Fog light covers, engine dress up including clear MTI lid, took off the side moldings, etc, etc,

i treat mine once a year with Leatherique-it's a 2 step/2 day process cleaner/conditioner which soften the seats and give them a nice matte finish.

i agree though, the material is cheap as hell in there. Really a shame considering i've seen kia's with better leather
