kooks headers borla y pipe?
ok so im leaning towards buying the kooks headers at the end of march but i already have 3"slp cats off the stock manifold and they connect to a borla 2 1/2 y pipe. I was wondering if with the kooks headers if ill be able to just attach the headers straight to the cats or should i scrap the y pipe and go for a 3 inch one. If at all possible id like to keep the cats just incase the inspection laws change around here. Does anyone have a similiar set up or maybe a suggestion?

I have kooks LT with a catted Y from them connected to a borla catback exhaust and everything from the y back is 3 in.
Someone can correct me if Im wrong, but when you put the LT on, it will move the location of the cats further downstream, so I don't think you can use the exact same setup as you have now, you might be able to reuse the Cats on a different Y-pipe. Also the 2 1/2 in will restrict the flow that you would be gaining from switching to LT.

yea thats what i was figuring.....i guess ill have them hack off the cats so i can re-use them, their not even 2 yrs old with about 10,000 miles on them...also is there gonna be a banging issue with the kooks 3 inch pipe? cuz ive seen something called a y pipe "dampener" or something like that. It goes around the y pipe and has rubber in it to soften the banging noise u hear on hard acceleration from a stopped position

no you can't really wrap rubber around an exhaust pipe, it'll burn. I have Kooks longtubes and ORY but I haven't driven it yet so I can't comment on banging noises.
here's a couple good threads on Kooks LT with a catted y

I've had the LT and catted Y for 5 or so years and haven't had any issues with it banging. It all tucks up nicely, although I have scrapped the Y on a couple speed bumps, but Im lowered on prokits as well.
