knock sensor code ?

my 2001 ws6 is throwing a knock sensor code,i reset it but it came back again,should i just replace the sensor ?

What is the exact code it is throwing?

I wouldn't fool around too much with the knock sensor, if it is bad, replace it ASAP.

ya the car isnt gonna move till i do this,i guess i will change both of them ? advance wants around $ 40 ea tomorrow i will see what gm wants.

Do yourself a favor while you are in there, and replace the wiring harness too. I had to open my intake three times the first time I replaced them.

now im thinkin while i got the intake off i might as well pull the heads and do a full cam swap in her ?

got the harness and 2 sensors from my local chevy dealer $ 151.00 delivered to me.i keep flip floppin on the cam issue.to do it the way i want im lookin at around $1500.00.i just dont really have the cash to play with right now.guess im gonna wait a little while.

im glad you got both sensors and the harness. I had the car throw the knock sensor code just recently when i tried for emissions this year, and i just went ahead and ordered it all. I got everything off ebay new for just a little less than you got your stuff. I changed it all the first time, and no problems. And fyi, i sealed the new ones in last time with rtv, and it didn't do any good. I'm sure it is because water gets under there. Between the intake and block.

my issue is to just fix it and be done or keep rippin it down and cam it.

Sounds like you need to have that convo with your banker. Can I suggest you rub her back and cook her a meal first?

im gonna pass on the sit down with my banker ( she has a fat back and will eat way to much ) and just continue ripping my motor apart.monday i will call around and see about the vengance racing vrx5 cam or something else.i figured it at around $ 1500.00 for the cam,springs,pushrods,lifters,oil pump,timing chain,gaskets,studs and trunnions for the rocker shafts.oh and the tune.its just amazing how all i was doing was replacing a friggin knock sensor !
