K & N question
I have the K&N FIPK intake system, 2000 T/A 5.7 ....I am looking for a pre filter to go over the filter. I know that I can get a universal foam prefilter that is cut to fit ,but does anyone know of a prefilter the is made for this exact set up??

Are u talking about a wrap-type thing that goes around the filter?
I know the downside of having a ramair hood/intake is the constant cleaning you have to do to ur filter, not a bad idea. If you have a CAI I would reccomend sealing off the front of the intake above the radiator, lotta guys leave it open thinking they're doubling the amount of air..when in fact they are not gaining as much as they can since the CAI isn't being secluded.

not horribly dirty but it needs to be cleaned about every 3000mi and it says there is only a 2% restriction in the wrap.

i dont think there will be enough hp lossed to notice. also K&N just replaced my filter for free b/c the screen on the other one began to seperate. So I was hoping to help protect this one a bit more. It was nice they gave me a new carbon fiber filter unit for free, literally overngiht

Not bad. I would then say compare the price of the wrap (once u find one, or call up K&N and ask for a part #) to the price of the K&N recharge kit. It think mine cost like 20 bux or something like that, only used it once..then again I capped off the air intake for my CAI and only put 400 miles a year on my TA if that.

Its my summer car and only see sun and dry pavement. The RA hood idea is up in the air since the car has such a low profile now, it will change the overall personality..(plus everyone has one, u rarely see a clean Trans Am). My cousin has a WS6 and all I hear is to get the hood, he's a bit cocky but i'll always be 1'uping him in the hp department, no matter what he ever does/says.
Wheels are American Racing Torque Thrust IIs 17x9.5 in the front 17.11 in back, 275/40/17 Goodyear F1s in front, 315/35/17 Goodyear F1s out back, lowered..hence the stance.Last edited by Vertiviper; 12-10-2007 at 12:40 PM.

sometimes if i really get on it, i get either the tranny, or the drive shaft slapping the tunnel a bit. the slapping on the tunnel goes with the wheel hop,......with that siad i know my torque arm mounts are good, the car is tuned and has a fair amount of mods,,, o i understnad the torque but would the stock torque arm shift enough tocause the slapping? I dont know if putting on a non stock torque arm would help or nt
