Intake Manifold and Fuel Injectors - 02 TA WS6
I have a Tech who will attach his ECU tuner to my TA to set the timing and Fuel/Air mixtures. He has already nulled the Shift Blocker and adjusted the Speedometer for 18" wheels. It has new Plugs and wires and O2 Sensors.
He needs to know the specific Intake Manifold and Fuel Injectors for the 2002 Trans Am WS6 Coupe. It has a stock, but ported, Throttle Body and an SLP Intake setup with High-flow MAF and a Corsa Cat-back exhaust system.
My understanding is that the Pontiac engineers installed the LS6 Intake Manifold and 28 pound Fuel Injectors on this model.
Can someone provide the Part Numbers for these items so that the Tech can make precise settings?
Thanks,
DMG

He won't need part numbers if he is tuning it part numbers don't help at all. It's the tables he can and needs to adjust.

HA. That was my position in the discussion, but he was uncomfortable with no 'starting point', as he put it.
perhaps you can answer a couple of questions without worrying about part numbers.
My mechanic (not the tuner) doubts my word when I told them that my TA has the WS6 intake manifold and the 28 lb. injectors. Am I correct in that?
With the other bolt-ons I listed, They should have no problem setting the tables for optimum performance. They said they would need a Dyno to really tune the engine to optimum. Frankly, they are making me nervous with their lack of imagination. the Air/Fuel mixture should still be within manageable tolerances at the high end of stock. Correct?
Thanks for the help.

Get a new tuner he obviously doesn't know what he's doing. Yes 02 TAs have the ls6 manifold. IDK why he needs part numbers it won't give him anything needed for tuning. Not to mention the car came with it so it's already been tuned with those parts just not optimal performance. No a dyno tune is not needed or worth it for the car as it is. If you did cam and headers or heads it would be. I know a guy that does mail order tunes that does a great job if you want his info let me know.

Thanks. I really appreciate the help.
You have said precisely what I told them in prep for setting the engine specs. It is not modified heavily enough to require a dyno tune. I think my mechanic is the nervous one.
I think the tuner simply wants to be able to enter the parameters for my specific car in order to set the program up for the tune and needs to know if any of the mods put it outside of stock tolerances, which they do not. I really believe he just wants reassurance that the '02 had the TB, WS6 intake, and 28 lb. injector combination that I gave them.
I appreciate the reinforcement of my position regarding the performance improvements and where they fall in the tolerances for a computerized optimization. I will pass along the specs I gave you above and he should have no problem optimizing for the improved air/fuel flow from the bolt-ons.
Thanks again and regards,
DMG P.S. Really cool TA you have. I like' em in black, don't you?
