Silver- 2002 Trans Am WS6
I need some insight on a possible buy please.
Hey, just registered but have been reading the post here for a bit. I was wondering if anyone can help me with a purchase I might do. Someone in my town is selling a 2000 Trans Am for $11,000. It has 100k miles but a new LS1 engine (Around 12k on the new motor.) and everything has been touched under the hood, lots of mods. Is this worth the price or what? I checked blue book and nada.com and the both said around 10-11k...so is this right?
Sorry, heres some more info: 6-speed manual.Last edited by DownSouth325; 04-16-2007 at 05:22 PM.

Im honestly not sure...I know what the car looks like but sure about the name specifics exactly. He has the exhaust all fixed up and things so...not too sure.

Make sure is doesn't have the service engine light on. If it does it won't pass emissions. Sometimes internal engine mods can set off the light.

Would be wise to get a list of all the mods that have been done to it, especially engine work and who did the work. When I was looking for my TA I found one similar with high miles, but a fresher engine and an impressive mod list with everything I wanted for a great price. To make a long story short the guy was spraying quite a bit of NOS into it without upgrading the internals and tried very hard to hide this.
Could be a very nice car, its just always safe to look into things when alot of work has been done.

have them list the mods, make sure you know what this car has been through. i would want to know who rebuilt the motor too. Id want to know the internal parts that went into the rebuild. I would be nervous about buying such a moded car because you never know how truely hard the car was run. If youve got an extra 11k lying around and this is for fun id say go for it, if youre looking for like a street car/DD and youre hard up on cash id deff. get more information on the car.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
hmmm...could be a gold mine, or a land mine...as your first purchase, i suggest buying a mostly stock ls1 car then do your own mods...you never know what's lurking under something like that. I'd be weary that a car is listed for that low with a lot of mods

Well everything looks pretty good under the good, though myself, I am not sure exactly anything more than that and will prob get a friend to go look at it with me. I think the guy is pretty up front with me and told me some problems he had with it and offered to fix it himself before I buy. He himself is a mechanic/very well informed with cars. The guy selling is like selling it out of or is sponsored by some racing team or some team/group. Are the new roush mustangs fast?
