well if you just want a light car take everything out and put a race seat in. I used a tubular k-member and control arms.

Spare tire and jack, bumper supports, aftermarket stall if you are an auto tranny, remove the air pump, remove the windshield washer tank, remove the a/c, I will think of more I am sure.

a diet is a good way too, lol. I need one, i could probably afford to free up 50 lbs, that's like feeling a gain of 5hp right? There was another thread about it somewhere and it gave a huge list.

You can probably pull all the heat sheilds under the car, as well. But it might get hot.

    For weight reductions I removed

    rear seats
    spare and jack
    egr and tubing
    smog pump
    front sway bar for drags
    cats
    rear muffler and tail pipes
    stock wheels
    stock cast iron manifolds

am running prostar draglite wheels with skinnies in front
long tube race headers with 3 inch off road y terminated at axle with single muffler

still kept a/c and leather front seats and weighed in at scales 3198 with my vette 17's on. Hoping with draglites on to weigh in 3000 range. In 98 z28

Taking out the A/c (never in southern states) reduces frontend weight and frees up HP wasted on it by the motor. One of those "free HP mods"

    1) Remove two lug nuts per wheel… 5 = overkill! We all know this.
    2) Replace long air valve stems with the new low profile ones, 50% less weight
    3) Remove rear wheel breaking system… we all know the front breaks have the true stopping power. I’m also thinking of trying to remove one of the front ones, I think I’ll remove the passenger side. This way if I get into an emergency breaking situation my side of the car will still stop.
    4) Strip leather rap from steering wheel, just leave the 9 and 3 positions, measure your hands so you don’t remove too much.
    5) Remove the key fob…. Open your doors the old fashioned way with the key. You do this by placing the rounded key in the receptacle located by the boor handle. By the way, there’s one on each side of the car.
    6) Remove the rear view mirror, use the mirrors on the door panels
    7) Don’t forget the obvious cigarette lighter, ash tray, ash tray lid, glove box cover (real men don’t ware gloves) cut the built in head rest off of the seats, this is real weight reduction. I recommend placing a “baby on board” sign in the rear window so people are more cautious and less likely to rear end you.

That should be enough to work on for quite a while. I’ll continue to brain storm this weight reduction list and improve upon it. I’m 100% sure I can get your car down to 3200 lbs. who knows, we could even get down to 3100lbs. with enough thought!

    Good Luck,

    Waldo

Screw it just replace everything with carbonfiber
THere are alot of body panels and internals and even unsprung weight can be turned into carbonfiber components. If the new ZR1 and even Zo6 has carbonfiber stuff, so can our cars. Just need money. How fast you wanna go?
