How much HP (if any) does Traction Control take away?

I have a 2002 WS6 with TC. The default is always on with this car even if I turn it off and then restart my car. It is good for when I am pulling out in the rain and sh*t but on dry road, what good is TC? I heard it basically robs yoru engine of HP to keep it from slipping....is this true and if so, how much does it take away at a start? I was behind a fellow WS6 today at a stop light and then took off faster then I could keep up and wasn't sure if it was a hook up ride or not. Made me wonder if I am getting too used to the speed of this thing after driving it for a year or if I am losing power somewhere. Doesn't feel as fast anymore but I could be wrong.

All TC does is reduces the flow of gas to the engine... thats why you stall when you get on it.

I cant remember where I heard this but I also found out that it will push the gas pedal back out when it starts spinning.. to of course stop it from spinning.

i don't like the clunking sound it makes when it engages. i keep it turned off. after a "burnout" test, i found that essentially, with it off is better.

Yes.. if you start spinning, there is something behind the accelerator that pushes back against your foot causing your foot off the gas... scare the shit out of me the first time... but yeah, in my opinion TC Sucks ass and I have it off all the time.

SLP sells a traction control reversal....I bought one and it's great. It just plugs on the back of the TC switch, and when you start the car the TC is off.

The TC is probably a good training tool for someone who's new to high HP cars. Otherwise they might spin the car around in front of somebody. But for anyone else it just sucks.

the ASR reduces throttle posistion and pulses the back brakes according to the amount of slippage

i found that if you tape the switch pushed down to the right that it will not turn on when you start your car which is a very cheep but kinda cheesy alt to the slp module, you probably could also wedge something behiend the switch but either or should work

Traction control sucks I would agree, but in the rain, it's saved my ass a couple of times, those ls1's are nasty on a slick road!lol

what about vettes... is there a module that will turn it off, but wont read "traction control disengaged" in the info center? can you have it programmed to work backwards? i have been wondering about this...

Actually there is a fuse in the engine bay fuse box. But if you remove the fuse.. your traction control will be on all the time.. Not a good idea tho if you ask me.

Actually my fuse popped and my traction control permanately stayed off. Everytime after i would start the car it would automatically shut off. Maybe if your tc is off when the fuse pops it stays that way. or the other way around..

I am 18 and I have a WS6 Trans am. My parents did not help me one bit. I worked in the oilrigs all summer went i was 17 and bought a recked 99T/A. Then I fixed it myself. But in the end it was worth it. I made a T/A with $6500 and it is kellybluebooked at over $10000.

i took the vette out today and turned off tractions control and really played for the first time (since im tying to learn the car a lil b4 i just hammer down)... jesus h christ... i didnt realize how much it held you back... i pulled out of my apt complex and nailed it (TC was on) swong it out to like a 30 degree angle and it died down and tucked back in so i let off the gas turned off TC and nailed it... she started slinging rubber ever where and drifted from side to side about 5 times till i clutched, hit second, and pulled out of the smoke cloud...

then when i pulled out at the top of the hill she swong all the way across 5 lanes of pavemanent and tucked in nicely in the next to last lane... at the end of the road slowed down to a roll cut her hard and mashed it and the next thing i know im headed back toward my apt...

this thing is a beast that i hadnt even gotten to unleash b4 today... im gonna kill myself... and how much did yall say tires cost for these things?
