how many miles is too many

I'm looking at a 2000 T/A with 98,000 miles for $9,800. the car is in mint condition in the interior and exterior and there is allegedly no mechanical problem. Am I asking for problems with this many miles, or is it fine.

i have a friend with 160k So you should be fine. But that price is a bit high - for 98k i'd say 8000 tops.

hell you got some more serious driving let on it, just watch out for the trans and rear, but get them down to 7500 or lower.

I had to chime in here I had a 1986 Camaro when I sold it I had put 363,000 miles on it. I just sold my chevy truck it just hit 305,000 miles both of these vehicles still were running fantastic when I sold them the only maintenance was changing the water pumps as they went out. All I can say is change that oil and I did treat them with slick 50 been using it for 15 years.

thats an awesome deal for a trans am. if u can get any ls1 that runs and drives and is in decent shape for under $10,000 then its a good deal. my friends got a 94 z28 with 160,000 on it and it just ran a 13.9 pretty much stock

Damn.. my 02 Ran be 20 grand in April.... with 69,100 on the clock... for that price.. if nothing is wrong with it.. I'd jump at it... I was impatient....I took 2 days from the time I decided on buying my T/A... but I'm still happy.

If the car looks taken care of in the interior and the paint,body,engine bay[dirty/.... not just dusty] are things to watch out for[wouldn't buy one with a greasy engine]...........you will b fine--check EVERYTHING you can--change fluids---get sfc's if it does not have them---change engine oil a couple times right away..clean injectors..rear end fluid....brakes.definitly check wear on rotors and pads......power steering...all mounts[engine,tranny]..etc...good cars in my book...

I would spend a 1,000$ on a used car right away for peace of mind...

thanks for all the advice, I'm going to check it out tommorow and see if I can trade my 02 RSX type-s for it (I'm a reformed ricer) also it is not a ws6 just a TA.
