How can I get easy HP for less!

    I have a stock 99' LS1 TA,
I would love to have about 600Hp.

But will take what I can get.

That would be nice, It would be some what of a once a week driver deal.

What all stock parts do I need to upgrade, so I can hold that horse and not break stuff evertime I get on it?

How much are we looking at For 600HP.$$$$ Turbo????? Trans???? Rearend???? Bolt on stuff???????????
or what is the easy way to go to get Good HP for your buck. Lokking at spending around 5G.

Or would it be easy to just order a performance package????

LS1 are so crazy, there are so many mods to do, I"m just stuck on trying to pick one??

with 600 h.p on a stock cubed ls1, youll need a forged bottom end, built up trans and a 12 bolt rear end.
now to get to 600 rwhp, a supercharger or blower, heads and cam, plus a squirt of giggle gas.
lets not forget, headers, catback, suspension work, stall converter and tuning.
    your looking at about 15k

well what about turboing the car what all upgrades would be needed to hold and produce about 500RWHP

What is the RWHP on it stock?

Or how hard would it be to do a Tranny swap, From auto to manual???
And how much are u looking to spend then???

Also How wide ofa back tire can you go on a stock Trans,, I know there are the 17X 11 by the american racing Thrust-II.

if you got the 17-11 wheels.... some 315-35-17 would fit nice....
but adding all that weight will only make sence if you are making alot more power than stock.... some DR's on stock wheels should be fine to 500-550rwhp.

Or how hard would it be to do a Tranny swap, From auto to manual???

i dont think it would be worth the trouble.... just sell your car and buy a manual.

What is the RWHP on it stock?
    A4.... around 280rwhp M6....... around 300rwhp

if your budget is ONLY $5K, this is what I might do......

    torque converter........ $500
    LT's/ORY/cat back...... $1000+
    AFR H/C (230 cam)..... $3000
    LS6 intake ............... $300-400
    TB, LID, pulley........... $400
    dyno tune..................$500

well that would be around $6K and you could see around 400rwhp

    good luck.

    400rwhp 99 HUGGER SS (3375lbs)- SOLD

Thanks, that is the type of info that helps.

What about building a motor for spray?
I heard that LS1's are nasty with spray, but what motor upgrade are we looking at?

The rearend will it need to be built also to hold aleast 400RWHP,
and how much hp will the motor be pushing?

    Good Shiftkits$????
    Gears$????
    upgrading PCM$?????
Pulling of the a/c, and most emission stuff will that help the car some???

Also running true dual's is that better the catback??

I love the sound of the 2 camber flow's( not that delta flow stuff, but the 40 seires)

Well for 500Hp I would go with a supercharger. You can get a brand new ket for 3000$ and spend 2 grand for all the suporting mods and you are there. Of corse you will have to spend more to beef up the tranny and rear and do some other things and at 500HP you are really pushing the stock motor.

    400 rwhp is easy,
    fast intake manifold
    ported throttle body
    headers
    catback
    228/228 cam kit
    tuning.

with above you will be right around 400 rwhp.
a set of heads will put you over 400.
a stall converter will also be needed. a perfect fit for above cam would be a 3500 rpm stall.

with a stall, labor and tuning for everything, your looking at about 5k.
youll be easily in the 11s

I've heard some good things about tuning alone. There are quite a few people using HP Tuners programmer alone and getting up around 400WHP. That's reasonably cheap compared to a lot of other things you can spend money on. The LS1 seems to have a lot of untapped power according to those guys.

My brother has a 2000 Grand Am GT with stage 2 heads/cam package without headers and using HP Tuners is running a low 14s quarter...stock is about 15.2 - 15.5 quarter in that car. We should be able to see mid 12's in an LS1 with nothing more than tuning! Once I'm done getting married and buying a house...that's probably next on the list for me.

Sorry...my bad...It should be 400HP at the crank. There is a guy running a race car on stock internals, and naturally aspirated on HP Tuners and is running 10.9s. That is a dream well beyond mine!

I'll be happy to see 11s in my lifetime as I want to keep it looking like it should for the street, while having it make quite a bark when I get on it...drive it to the track instead of trailer it.

Either way, if you are prepared to get into the tuning of these cars, it can be fun as long as you are careful. If you aren't prepared to put the time in though, you're best off to pay someone to do it, or just stick to the typical add-ons.

True! I'm just trying to stick to N/A myself. That way, as long as there is Ultra 94 octane served at the pump, I'm goin' fast!
