Hey all, what do I need with this exhaust?

(EDIT: My bad, this belongs in the external engines forum, where I ended up with a duplicate post. Sorry guys, didn't mean to waste resources. Thanks for the answers so far though!)

So I need a bit of help here all. It's been sometime since I've been in the mods game, so I'm playing catch up (i've forgotten everything, haha).

I was looking at picking up the cat-back setup from magnaflow: F-body catback.

Now, is that going to bolt right up to the factory y-pipe thats in place, or am I looking at also having to pick up a y-pipe if I go with the magnaflow?

Now, if I have to get an aftermarket y-pipe, what would you all recommend? If it does just bolt right up to whats in place, would you all recommend changing out the factory pipe? Or does it flow well enough to really not be an issue?

I'm in california, so I have to keep things relatively tame, otherwise I'd just be putting long tubes and true duals even, but...well, sometimes its a real pain to figure out what you will and won't get away with here. I know as long as the Cats don't get moved you're technically still legal, but you run into so many hassles out here.

Anyways, thanks in advance for your time .

If have stock maifolds then all you need is the cat-back exhaust. The Manaflow kit will come with everything you need. If you plan on using LT's then it's best to get a Y-pipe or have one custom made. If you are concerned about emissions, then "shorty" header will probably be a better choice than LT's and you wont need a -Y-pipe.

Thanks Sinister. Yeah, thats exactly what I will be doing for now, as far as headers. I'll eventually be doing some shorties. I really like the BBK ones, their CNC series, but I'll be waiting on them, since their CARB certification is pending. I tossed an email their way, and they said they'd be looking at certification for those this year.

Thanks again for the info regarding the y-pipe and everything. Very much appreciated!

You'll love the sound of the Magnaflow. That's what I have on my car. And when you get headers it turns into a screamer.
