    2001 pontiac trans am ws6

    Help with build!!

    im getting my ls1 rebuilt for my 01 WS6 and i and trying to figure out what cam to put into it. also lookin to rebuild my heads what do you suggest. also i still want to keep this as a street car. Shoot for over 500 hp. What would i have to do to my stock motor if i put a .570 lift cam in it.

    Your going down a road and taking the wrong path. 500 whp out of a 346 is very difficult. You mention you want it to be street able. That's all opinion based. At the very minimum your going to need a huge cam (MS4ish) and top of the line heads. Forget your stockers. AFR/TFS/TEA/ETP heads. .570 lift is fairly small, especially for what your looking for. Don't get hung up on the 500 RWHP. Unless you mean, 500 flywheel HP, your going to spend huge money, and its going to be a handful on the street.

    Do you have any suspension? Hope your not on the 7.5" 10 bolt and wanting 500HP. Automatic? Stall? M6? Clutch? (rearend)?

    Forget rebuilding the LS1, put the money into a stroker (402+). 500 HP is easier to attain and keep DD characteristics. I think you need to do some more research and set a certain MPH and elasped time in the 1/4 mile, rather then a certain HP level.

    really i just want a 10 sec. car more than the whole 500 hp.
