    Help 02 ws6 wont start?

Today i drove my t/a to the store, everything was fine no unusual sounds or behaviors. I turn off the car, come back turn the key and nothing. All the dash lights turn on there is power everywhere it wont fire. It doesnt even try to crank. I replaced the starter, didnt do anything. Tried jump starting it and pop starting it, nothing. There is power through the whole ignition system to the starter all the fuses are good. The only thing different is the security light in the gauges is now flashing. I tried the process to relearn it to the chip in the key and no good. Any idea's on whats wrong. im stumped?

mods are just lid, longtubes, and cat delete magna flow cat back.

also when i started it to get to the store, the starter didnt sound weak if fired right up.

Its almost like trying to start the car without pressing the clutch. we tested the switch behind the clutch which is also good.

VATS? Do you have another ignition key? Or maybe clean the contacts on the chip and give it a try.

Just gonna throw this out there. The linkage in the ignition is all plastic, could have slipped a cog. You probably would have noticed it by now, though. There is also a very small wire hooked to the ignition cylinder. Maybe that got pinched. Prob isnt your problem, just thrownig it out there.

Did the cylinder have the two small wires to it? I can't remember if they do, I think they do. If so, those are your VATS wires and one was probably broken.

I had an 89 iroc that the same thing happened and it was the wire running to the ignition cylinder for the security. Replaced cylinder and all was good.

Happened to my grand am back in the day as well. Actually using a new key worked for a little bit until the whole thing went crazy. Your security system was engaged. A new key probably would have worked temporarily/for a while. The ignition cylinder is a perma fix, so congrats on that, and sometimes you can get behind everything and mess with the wires. (yellow one?)
