Headrest cover removal help
Edit: I removed them. See my post below for information and more pics.
Trying to remove the cover of my headrest and I am having trouble seeing how it's done. Tried searching the forum for help but didn't have much luck. Then again, my bus may be shorter than others. Please see the pic below. Is that the area I'm trying to get into for removal? If so, what's the trick?

Man its been awhile, but arent there clips tucked up under the headrests that come out so you can remove? I do remember they were tight as shit and were a bitch to get on and off. Check for clips tucked up under in the middle

I think those clips are flexible O type plastic pieces that you just bend enough to pull out each end from the head rest pleat itself.
The O ring would be tethered to the head rest post itself and the cover would slip away.
I'm guessing here.

Email Grant if you don't get a good answer on here. I bet he knows if he is doing the embroidery.

That photo you had shown, on the underside there are simply two long 'c' shaped pieces that interlock between the posts. Simply push them together & then lower one or the other to release them.
How do I explain, ..., hmmm, ..., cup your four fingers into a c-shape on both hands. Now interlock them, ..., Get it?!?
As soon as you get it loose, then use a hair-dryer if necessary to keep them 'warm', then simply work them up & over. When you get one side/end near the top, it's easiest to pull one side up & over. They're easier to work with if they've been in the warm sun all day.Last edited by PontiacFan; 01-04-2009 at 07:16 PM.

Ok. I was able to remove them today. It was a bitch and requires a lot of force. I only used a flathead and screwdriver. You also have to remove the seatbelt holder.
There are 3 clips: 2 small on the sides and 1 large in the middle (see pic below). I used a flathead to pop out the sides first, and then the middle. I then forced both sides of the leather up a little over the insulation, and then pulled up one side all the way to completely remove it.
Top cover is front view, bottom cover is back view:

Those are on your bed. Are you going to sleep with them tonight?.....lol.
good job on the tutorial. I'll save this one for when I'm ready. Too many projects started already.
Post some pics up there when they are done as well.

No problem. I hope it is helpful for anyone doing the same thing. I will definitely post pics when it's finished.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
Mine took no time at all to undo them. Just reached my fingers under the front of it, pulled and they unlatched. I had to stick a long flat head in from the side (parallel to the clasps) to shuffle them loose.
the HARDEST part is pulling them off. The styrofoam headrests have this plastic stuff that kinda melted to the inner lining of my leather. Also, they are really snug to begin with. Start pulling them from the side with OUT the seatbelt guide and be very tough about it. Give it hell! Once you clear the top of the foam, the thing slides right off.
I'm interested to see what they'll be like putting back on though.Last edited by third_shift|studios; 04-01-2009 at 05:20 AM.
