not a big deal..your gears are stripped. the gears only use 180 degrees ..so flip the gear and you will be all set.

I say buy the brass gears. Think about it...you gotta go into the motor and rotate the gear anyway, so why not just change the gear entirely? Rotating is a quick, but temp fix. It's better to do it right the first time. I learned that after my first spat with the lamps.

brass gears are incredibly hard on the motor..that motor is designed for light plastic gear ..you throw a heavy brass gear in there and watch your motor life go down the drain.

i've had my car for 3 years and i have yet to have a problem with the gears or the motor..the key is to only turn the light on or off..when you are at a complete stop.

Search "4th Gen Firebird Trans Am Headlight Fix" on youtube. The video explains how to rotate the gear. I found it helpful when I had to rotate the gear in my headlight.

I have had brass gears in my headlight motors for 4 years now and they still work just fine.

Any pics of the brass gears? Could they be lightened by drilling holes in them before installation?
