Got Dynoed

So I went to the local car show and got my TA dynoed.

I was a bit dissapointed since it seemed pretty low numbers on eveything that ran on it but atleast it gave me an idea of where the numbers were at.
Even my buddie 00 Cammed SS only pulled like 350ish I didnt feel so bad about my low numbers.

at 85 degrees and 22% humidity it pulled 307hp and 308 torque.

K&N, SLP air lid, smooth bellows, LS6 intake, ported TB, 1 7/8s American Racing LTs 3" duals x pipe SLP LM2s, EWP 180deg thermo, SLP underdrive pulley, on 91 octane, N2O tune but didnt run N2O

A4 3000 stall and Moser 9" with 3.70 gears
120k miles
tuned with 10 deg of timing out for N2O

I do have to say that it sounded amazing at WOT. I'm gonna have the N2O tune taken out and hopefully have it re dynoed on Oct 4th with +6deg of timing in it.

how can my t/a bone stock be rated at 305 hp, and with all your mods you only pull 307?? i've always gotten confused with this.

Manufacturers use flywheel HP while most dynos use rear wheel HP. Those numbers do seem to be low, might have to do if those are corrected numbers or not as well. Not to mention an A4 stalled through a 9" is going to show quite a bit less then the same car on a M6 with a 10 bolt.

But isn't it known that the f-bodies with ls1s are actually around 350 hp, and like you said it rates the rear wheels and stock usually pulls at least 300. So yeah i think they are REAL low after all that, you should be around 350 RWHP i would think, but i'm still new

yeah i had my car dynoed at 278hp stock but that was the amount of horses making it to the rear wheels. if u want to find the hp to the crank u have to multiply the rwhp by 15%. So if u dynoed 307rwhp that would put u around 361hp at the crank.
307/0.85=361 and your friend would have about 411hp. Most dynos only calculate the amount of hp making it to the rear wheels.

I have a WS6 and they come stock with 325hp at the crank No Trans Am comes stock with 350hp. A Firehawk comes with 335hp at the crank stock and a regular TA with
310hp at the crank

It can depend on a lot of different things, though they are under rated from GM. Usually the cars that I have heard of/seen that are in the higher numbers tend to be the younger cars with a goodies like the LS6 intake stock from GM. With my car it pulled 357 to the rear wheels with just bolt ons and a tune. However, I have a M6 with a 10 bolt. With a 9" and an off tune it is possible that is the reason for the lower numbers (tune has made 21 RWHP difference on my car when it was bolt on only).

Changing parameters with the car's computer. Fuel/spark curves etc.

do you send your computer in to someone or is there a hand held thing you can buy?

You can have it sent off for a mail order tune. There are also handhelds, but the best is to have a laptop with the correct software (and someone who knows how to use the program) who can tune the car.

All TAs are 350 at the crank with the LS1. GM underrated the LS1 in the TAs and Camaros to keep from stealing sales from the Corvette thats why if you dyno a stock TA it puts around 300 to the wheels.

The guy who does my tuneing told me that should be about correct. Still I thought that it was low, and I bet the high mileage prolly doesnt help the numbers much either. He told me it was more like a 20% power loss from the crank with the stall and the 9" and with 10 deg of timing out it is aucutally pretty good. Also those Centerlines I have are monsters they are only 8" wide and 18s and weigh about 10-15lbs more than my buddies TT2 that are 11 something wide and 17s.

Next time I dyno it will be with the Weld Prostars 10x15s with ET streets, it should show some more power with those.

Still it did way better than the 70 Chevelle that pulled up and was bragging about a 430hp motor at the crank, and how he got off the bottle when he was a baby..... he was very arrogant ..... but he only pulled 290 hp at the wheels

I didnt even have to run the N2O to beat his numbers, good thing to since the bottle was empty.

He was pretty pissed! Now if I can only beat him at the track.

Had it dynoed again Memorial Day. With the timing in it now, and after having my 9" gears properly spaced, and being on a better dyno it put down 334/324.

I dont think its too bad for a stalled auto with a 9" and 126,000 miles with just bolt ons/ exhaust.

Now for a better tune.
