im driving my 97 trans am and in starts acting up like is on speed. i pulled up to a red light and my Rmps are stuck at at 4500 i though maybe the gas was just sticking but thats not it, but if i just let in run it will after a of siting still it will go to 2000 a friend said its a sensor?? if so what do i do and how do i fix it

your MAF sensor can cause that or if you have some bad wiring that could also be possible. like Y2K is saying it would be accompanied by a SES light though normally. Try pulling your "engine sensors" fuse and that will take them out of the loop and your car will be running in a "limp mode". If that fixes your idle problem then you need to start checking your sensors one by one since they all work together.

my formula had a similiar problem i had the tornado in thier and the gas was being stuck by the tornado.

i had it looked its the O2 sensor and the O2 hose had a hole in it
