    The Forgiving F-Body

Today I had a close call with the T/A. Getting on the freeway ramp and tried to speed up a bit to get around another slowass.

Hit the gas a bit too hard and the TCS was off....lol.

I had entered 2 complete sideways opposing motions before I straightened it out.

Had to still give it gas upon straightening out in each direction to keep from getting hit from behind and I nearly shit my pants.

Fortunately, I am in an autocross club which I take my T/A to from time to time on a timed course which helps my reaction to the vehicle movements and learn the limitations of the vehicle.

This along with the very forgiving nature of the F-body averted disaster.

It is a little different in an "Oh Shit" maneuver though. You're not ready for it as you would be in an autocross/drifting situation.

Even just having fun and fish tailing, you're still prepared for it or should be.

What a scare......lol. A woman that was behind me passed me up on the highway and was glaring at me. All I could do was laugh while looking back at her.

I'll admit I'd be checking my pants after something like that!! Was it raining or something though because I would think it would be pretty hard to mistakenly do that during dry weather.

yeah, the road was dry but, had been raining earlier so, perhaps it was still damp but, didn't look like it.

yeah, thanks for the tip. I used to forget to turn it off for competion and now I forget to leave it on for inclimate weather. I looked to see if my TCS was on or off after I got out of the frightful maneuver and to my surprise, I was in race mode. Need to think about that one for future reference since there will be one.

It was an eventful afternoon I should say. Check out this F-body compliation.

The black big bird that totally looses control is exactly what mine did on the on ramp. All except for turning around 180 degrees. The only difference between the two is that the big bird was still WOT. I regulated the gas and the brake in balance until it became totally straight with no more fish tailing action.

I will say that this vehicle is very forgiving after that.

Yeah but, you're used to it getting out of control on wet pavement. I've never been in that type of situation before with it. I usually leave the TCS engaged when it is questionable for wetness.

This time was a fluke. Didn't even look damp but, was very apparent that this was no ordinary exhibition of speed like I do from time to time and control it. My hats off to you if you experience that on a regular basis.

yeah, the autocross driving tactics definitely helped out. I originally joined the autocross specifically for this type of situation. I enjoy doing autocross but, in the back of my mind I knew that it was teaching me the limitations of the vehicle and what to do to get myself out of such a situation.

    It was instinctive.
