im not sure about weight...but they can have a killer sleeper look. I was thinking about getting one and replacing the "Formula" badging with regular "Firebird" badging lol...keep the exhaust quiet and put a cutout on it

It's a few lbs. lighter than the T/A, depending on options. 1/4 mile times should be about the same, depending on transmission.

They're deinitely sleepers, not alot of people know what they are just assume they're V6's.

I love mine, I think it has a very clean look and I also like that it's rarer than the T/A. IIRC they only made about 1300 Formula's in '00.

Weight difference is usually around 100 lbs
A Formula is everything that a Trans Am is without most of the Fluff.
Also All LS1's are 345-350 HP no matter what Car they were installed in.

Formula the No-Frills Performance Car from Pontiac.

You read correctly from the source. They were rated from the factory anywhere from 310-325 depending on model. Realistically, regardless of model, they were all around 350 HP.

The formula is the v6 body with the v8 drivetrain. My gf has an '01 formula with leather, power seat, power windows, t-tops, 3.23 gears. I'm pretty sure you could get everything in a formula that you could have in a trans am.

yeah, the only difference between a formula and a trans am was the fascias, spoiler, and um 3 logos?

you could even order th WS6 package on a formy....

    mine made the ultimate sleeper....

What's a Formula T/A? Never heard of it.

I think it's either one or the other.

    2000 Formula

Go for it! I just bought mine (2000 Formula) a few months ago. It is a blast to drive. First and second gear fishtails and 3rd gear tire chirps. At 20 mph you can punch it and light up the tires, oh yea! My youngest son loves it. It is a sleeper for sure. I like the cloth interior as well. I think all TA's came with leather. Either way you go, TA or Formula, you will not be dissapointed!

Does it have the T/A front and rear bumpers?

If it's just got the badges and the wing, someone probably started converting it at one point.

If it's got the T/A bumpers too, it's probably a T/A. I beleive if you do a VIN search on these cars the T/A's and Formulas come up the same.

And alot of the time Autotrader and other dealer sites list them as "Trans Am Formulas".

And not all T/A's were WS6, so that doesn't really matter.

That is correct the vin # does not distinguish between Formula or Trans Am.
This has been covered time and time again
The RPO codes are the only way to identify the Model
    Please refer to the stickies.
