You can easily see where the styling cues to the 93-97 Firebird came from.

Here are some pictures of the California Camaro IROC-Z Concept car designed and built in 1989.

Going a bit further back to the mid-80s, another Camaro concept car, called the Camaro GTZ was built.

I have a car mag, think it's Road and Track that features the Cali IROC concept.

We all didn't know at the time just how close the 4th gen would come to the concepts. Those Firebird concepts are very close to reality.

At least they look better then the majority of today's concept/production cars. At least back then they had ideas, not some stencil to copy another car.
