Dyno differences
Hi guys,
Just bought an 01 TA and Im takin in to the dyno Mon. Previously, all of the cars that I have had dynoed have been on a Dynojet(or like) system. This is a Mustang 600 Dyno. I have read that Mustang dyno's always read lower than Dynojets. What kinda a difference can I expect vs. a Dynojet?
Thanx

15% difference. Mustang dyno emulates road conditions [drag] and give you a more accurate reading of what your car put's down. dynojets just spin freely. ricers like dynojets b/c it gives them a false preminition of power. My ws.6 mustang'd at 312/315. Really shocked the hell out of me-then someone explained it. Don't be upset if you see really low numbers, even in the upper 200's

Ok, Im confused. Any car I have dynoed in the past has been on a dynojet, with stock LS1's putting 290 or so to the wheels. On the mustang dynos, I knew that they always read lower than a dynojet setup b/c they run the eddiecurrent system, or dont use water, whatever. But somehow my car put 235RWHP down WCF. This according to the shop is normal. In fact 4 days prior to mine, another 98 Ta came in and put down 223(Also bone stock). They said that this equalls out to between 295 and 300 on a Dynojet. I know this car runs good, Ive had 4 of them prior to this one. Im very familiar with LS1's power. What gives? Also, I thought on 6 speeds they tested in 3rd gear, not 4th. Please help put my mind at ease.

4th gear is 1:1 ratio from engine so it's the most reputable gear.
HP is just hype-all that matters is how fast you get down the track
You should have your car tuned and i bet you'll free up some HP. but 230 is fucking retarded???

Yea, I know. Its all about ET, not necessarally HP. But, that number just bugs the hell outa me! I have never heard of a pull that low with an LS1. I think that maybe they dont know how to operate it or something, cause that just is not right. There's no way... Damn, Im getting aggravated.

Lol. Yea, three times! They couldnt seem to get it right...shocker, huh... I dont know, maybe my cars a piece, afterall. I need a friggin Dynojet to find out for sure. There is just no way that those numbers can be correct. A LS1 can do better than that on 6cylinders. Friggin Civics and Mustangs(he, he) can do that!

especially an '01 it should put down more like 315 to the wheels....that sux man sorry...maybe they were cranking down the rear too tight...1 ratchet on those straps too many and it will really fuck with the numbers....thats why you gotta find someone who knows what the hell they be doing
