yes I think my intake is louder with the SLP lid. You can hear a lot of sucking noise when standing out in front of the car. Inside I don't notice much difference.

Get a cutout, she won't notice the increased level of noise from induction anymore

I have a lid on my car, I noticed zero differece.

But yeah, throw a louder exhaust on it, she won't hear a thing.

Or you could always just turn up the radio....drown out the intake noise AND the wife. Win-win.

    Solution to many problems! lol.

I noticed alittle on the outside with the hood open, but not much. Like cutlass said, more of a sucking noise than before. I also did the smooth bellow at the same time, thought I'd mention.

aftermarket lid does remove the baffles, but you will only notice it on open throttle..just hear more engine noise is all.

I put a K&N box on the truck I use to pull our boat and when you kick it in it's loud. The wife not happy about that but oh well it's not coming off now. I did noticed some pick up time from the stock box.

Same with mine, i've even had people ask What kind of intake do you have? Do you have turbo or a supercharger under there? No I don't, and they ask, Are you sure? Yes i'm sure, unless it's invisible, LOL. But I like the sucking sound, it scares people when I pull up behind them

i agree with liking the sucking sound. It already looks like our cars have HUGE NOSTRILS on the hood so its like ur gonna suck up a mustang or a vette or anything else dumb enough to be in front of you. Kind of like the old commercials for when the ls1 was released for the TA back in 98

98-02 LS1 MTI Transparent Air Lid
    [MTI-LID] $129.99
98-02 LS1 MTI Transparent Air Lid

**NOW ACCEPTING PRE-ORDERS, LIDS ARE IN PRODUCTION, AND ARE EXPECTED TO SHIP AROUND 8-30-10***

MTI's high flow air induction is the first of its kind to be produced. It was designed on a chassis dyno for maximum HP and proven at the track with reduced ETs and higher trap speeds. This complete, easy to install unit comes with everything necessary for installation including band clamp. This is the original LS1 high-flow induction system.

This lid works on all LS1 powered f-bodies, including Firebird WS6 cars and also Camaro SS cars. It also works with the stock air filter, or any aftermarket filter such as K&N or Holley.

NOTE: For 2000-2002 LS1 cars, THIS breather filter is required for the AIR pump tube that is connected to the stock airbox.

Is this a good lid? I love the look of it!!!

You will also notice a sound similar to a vacuum cleaner when the AIR Injection pump cycles on to inject air into the exhaust manifolds.
(the factory baffles do a good job silencing that).
