Mine is stock too. Darn! then i wonder whats up with my car? i took it to a speed shop here that only works on LS1's and they say that its normal with performance engines.i have 70,000 miles. No codes or anything show up on the scanners. When in idle my car does a little stumble, sometimes its worse than other times.

Might be time for plugs, and a tune-up.

They did the plugs for me. MSD plug wires. TR55 gapped at 35. I put a K&N air filter. i cleaned out my TB. New oil Valvoline VR1 racing 10W30 recommended by the speed shop. Its probably something dumb but i wish i could find it.

    There is the problem.

Should be gapped at .055" for most any N/A application.

These guys were very clear about the Gap being at 35. In fact it was the first thing they told me when i showed up to pick up my car, that these cars run best when gapped at 35.
Im not doubting you, im just telling you what they told me. And i figure...well these guys only work on these engines day in and out and set up some customer cars mainly for racing...so i just go ahead and figure hey! whatever they say! they also told me to try putting lucas Octane Booster in the tank because of all the ethanol thats in the gas nowadays....I did that and nothing has really changed.

    I am just saying...

    I have TR55's in my built motor....gapped at .049".
Too tight of a gap, and the spark is off a bit.

+1 a gap of 35 is fine for an older car with an hei or similar ignition but our ignition is very powerful in comparison. Its just restricting the spark.

Same here. All stock, 79k miles.

Any engine speed above idle it's fine, but there's that idle stunble, with no codes or SES light.

A long shot possibility, when the EGR sticks open just barely it can cause an idle stumble/shake. Usually if the EGR is sticking, at idle the car will lope like a big cam, but if it is barely open it can do just as you describe.

You said it was there before you had any work done at the speed shop? All that new stuff to try to fix it, and no change? Is your MAF clean? If it has oil on it from the K&N, that usually shows as low power, but it could show up only as the idle thing.

Still, Luos has a good point about the spark plug gap.

No air leak in the bellows between the MAF and throttle body? Take it off and look closely. These are things to check. Fuel pressure good? (55-60, I believer, KOEO).

My engine is far from stock but I have TR55's and they are gapped at .055", no problems at all. When I was stock, I put in a new set of plugs and gapped them at .035" and had rough idle. I pulled them back out and gapped them at .055" (recomendation from a tuner), and the rough idle went away. Try them at .055"

I havent checked the EGR. Ill take a close look at it, as for the bellows they arent open anywhere it was one of the first things i checked.
    raise the RPMs at idle
That is appealing. I think id like to try that but how do i pull it off?
