Sounds like a fuel problem to me, have you changed your fuel filter lately?

Yeah. Things that immediately come to mind:

Fuel pump may be on the way out. If you have low pressure, it makes the car hard to start when cold. Once running, a little bit of low pressure won't make much difference. but cold start-up, it does.

Is your IAC clean? If it's dirty, that would show up, especially as you describe.

Have you cleaned your MAF lately? A dirty MAF underestimates airflow....

And no, it ain't normal for our cars to have a cold stall like you describe. Others will chime in with more ideas.

Do you happen to run your car low on fuel alot, cause that can also cause your fuel pump to and filter to go bad, fuel pump cause it doesnt have enough fuel to keep it cool, and its straining to pull fuel from the tank, filter because all the trash is clogging it up from it pulling all the fuel from the bottom of the tank.

I would probably change the fuel filter 1st since it's cheap and fast so you can see if that fixes the problem without spending a lot of cash plus.depending on how.many miles.it.may be time.for.a.new.one anyway and cleaning the maf is fast and cheap just a can of maf spray cleaner, also I have a 98 Trans Am and had to replace my fuel pump at 75k mules so depending on miles so that would probably be next.
    1998 Trans Am 85k miles.

My car had something similar to that. Changed the gas filter. Cleaned the MAF. That problem was gone

No the radio presets don't reset and I think I'm going to check the fuel pump first any ideas on how to check if it's working right or do you have to just replace and hope that works.

You'll need to put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail and turn the key on,,,see what you have before spending money on parts.

What I was thinking as well.

I'd still do the filter, cheap, easy and probably needed anyways.

Yea def do the cheapest thing first, and that would be the fuel filter, it seriously just sounds like it is dirty and clogged.
