    That looks great!

I was just going to VHT NightShade it (more on the top than the bottom), but I may have to try this.

You'll have to let us know how long that lasts.

I wonder how plastic polish works on it...

Looks good as new. Mine wasn't faded but I VHT'd it anyway. Your solution is definately better if you don't have a black car.

    Mmmmm.

Mine was a bit jaded and flat looking too and and i gave it a damn good polish with Meguiars swirlX and a coat of Meguiars wax and the difference is huge

I would imagine that any fairly mild paint correction fluid would acheive similar results though

good tip! i used mother's 3 step system on my car and since my 3rd brake like looked really really bad i hit it with the 3 step and it came out great. does not take much to get them back but i would guess that what you did will keep it looking better for longer than what i did. it is all about how much work you put in to it....

U could try...but U may have to wet sand with 1000 or 2000 grit and then use a buffer W/polish ...LET me know

you definitely will have to wet sand first. gonna have to use 1000 or 1500 until it is smooth. then step down to 2000 or even 3000 then polish them. polishing by hand will be easier if you take it down to 3000.

Thanks for the info, I have some sandpaper coming to me tomorrow because I'm redoing the center rear panel, bird is 1/2 faded off and looks terrible. Fortunately I ordered 2000 as it was recommended in the write up as a finishing wet sand. Gonna do this while working on that, 2 birds with one stone and I will post pics as long as everything goes well .

Well, it doesn't look as bad as in my picture above but it's nowhere close to the OPs light looks like. I'll work on it again sometime, maybe work my sanding a little more.

Yeah. The really bad corroded look is, I think, from one of the previous 7 owners applying a clear coat on it and it has faded really, really bad. The sucker is smooth as silk from sanding and using the polish, but it still looks crappy, just not AS crappy as it was. I have to go over it again with maybe some 1500, the 2000 could not get all the corroded or the actual cracking off. It at least gave me something to do in between repainting my center tail panel.

Mine looked like that I sanded it and buffed it a couple times and finally I gave up and smoked it out so you couldn't see any lite haze that was left. Another thing I noticed now is you can get some led aftermarket replacements cheap on eBay that look good if it's too far gone. Usually with headlights if I can't sand and buff I use 600 and then 800 and a couple coats of clear or I mix a few drops of black in with the clear and that will hide the have a little better.
