Daylight Running Lights
Hey guys, like most of you.. I've been having to change my turn signal/dlr lights constantly every few months or after a bad storm... I finally realized the problem lies in the housings..
they tend to crack over time (and lets face it, mostly everyone has the stock housings.. meaning they are 10+ years old)
the solution is to replace the entire housings themselves...
I also replaced the sockets since they were all corroded and stuff..
Anyway I found the housings on ebay, the pair for $50 and the 2 replacement sockets for $30
heres the old housing
The old socket(s) compared to the new
The new housings installed
These are much brighter now!
if you contemplated getting LEDs, just get new housings, they look great and no moisture should get in to cause the bulbs to go out

The housings I got from the seller am-autoparts on ebay, They are brand new direct OE replacements.. the inside is even painted with chrome, they are very nice
The sockets I also got from ebay from firehawkjeff , they sell all sorts of replacement parts for F-bodies, but these sockets are also brand new OEM replacements

If you want to replace everything just like I did...
The bulbs were about $6 at autozone
The housings were $50 shipped and the new sockets were $30
so right under $90 for the parts
Now the tools I didnt have...
I bought a wire crimper at autozone for about $20.. I got the best one, I didn't cheap out
And I also bought a torch and butt connectors with heat shrink already on them for about another $20
but these tools worked way better than I thought, and will definetly be useful for any other electrical repairs
The splicing and crimping was unbelievably easy and came out great, I have no worries about the wires getting damaged by weather or vibrations

Valor X, I tried searching and could not find "how to replace the lenses". Can you lay out the steps to removing and installing the lenses? Thanks...

You will first want to raise the car in order to make the job much easier... with ramps like I did or a jackstand
On each side at the bottom there are access panels/flaps that are held on by 2 screws.. just unscrew those and you will have access to the signal lights
You simply twist on the socket and it will come out with the bulb
The housings are held on with two 7mm screws... all you need is a 7mm wrench to take them off
once they are off the housing comes right off, then you simply put the new one in and put the screws back in nice and snug
If you just want to replace the housings it really shouldnt take more than 10 minutes per side

Wow, that simple.. I did the bulbs but not the housing.. I think I'll do the same thing you did. Thanks for posting this information..
