Cut out for a 02 trans am (Collector Edition)
I want to put an electric single exhaust cut out on my CETA. Pipe is 2.75", what would you suggest? Can't find one on e-bay for it?

sebring silver- Y2K SS CAMARO
any muffler shop can custom build one then you can buy just a QTP 3 bolt cutout to bolt on the flange. that would be the cheapest way unless you want to research DMH cutouts but there expensive compared to others

What are the pros and cons of having cutout on your car?
-
08-01-2012, 05:05 PM #11
Pros: Incredible sound, free flowing exhaust, total control from your driver seat
Cons: Probably illegal in most states, hard to get the smile off your face, addictive once you start using it

How far after the cats would you suggest? ( inches/feet?) I read a thread on here somewhere that said after the cats was to close.... fumes or something.... etc.?..and if you have a catted Y (like i do) would you guys use a single or a dual....I was thinking of a dual- one after each cat?

I have a single cutout mounted in the area under the rear passenger side seat. Seems to be the best place for it. There have been pics posted on here of dual cutouts in the Y-pipe, but too long ago for me to remember which member's car it was on.

Do you also get extra horsepower?
I have to rant on this subject: Yesterday I was standing in the parking lot talking with a bunch of friends and a motorcycle went bye and we couldn't hear each other because of it.
But, if a car makes the same sound from its exhaust - its illegal.

It depends on your state/city noise ordinances...and the cop whether hes a dick or not? I know in my city it seems like the cops ignore the ricers ( Harley`s too but not so much) unless its a Hells Angel then theyre interested!!-everything from speeding to no plates/obstructed plates to obnoxiously loud ,we have a newspaper columnist who does a roadshow column about road issues and when ive mentioned this issue on a live chat hes generally said he`ll look into it--- but never has an answer ..I told him that the local P.D. seems to focus on the auto`s violations (ie: tinted windows,no front plates, excessive exhaust noise etc..) But he always says he will check into it but never seems to answer. There does seem to be a double standard-I dunno....and im not sure in your state but here in Ca. if a peace officer deems your car has illegal aftermarkets he/she can refer you to a smog referee and can result in a fine of up to $900.00 and you have to return the car to its legal emissions before getting your tags!==Thats part of the reason i would want to get C/O- and keep my mellow Magnaflow set up....so if i wanna be loud and gnarly i can open my C/O..when i wanna be more stealth id keep it closed.Supposedly theres a decibal level for this but ive yet to see a decibal reader in a cops hands...its a matter of their interpretion i guess?

I think I ordered my DMH cutouts through KY Speed. Too bad, as they are very nicely constructed and perform great. Hope it works out for you.
