cruise control issue

so when I try to engage my cruise, there is either a delay or it never works at all. When it does work the car will keep a constant speed but start slowing down after a few seconds. any ideas?

commen problem.. the switch went bad get a new one and ur good to go

I replaced the handle with a used one off of ebay. Its doing the same thing. Could I have purchased a bad switch?
I also have Traction Control. I have read that they are 2 seperate systems. I have been having a isue with my abs inop, brake , and tcs off lights coming on for a few seconds. could this be related?
