crack windshield unknown reason
Hi all,
i just notice that my front windshield is crack ,it start at the center (down at the wipers ) and around 15 to 18 inches out towards the passenger fender (not towards the t-tops ).The crack is on the inside of the glass only and not outside,it appears there two ply of glass and like i said the inside only.Car is a 2000 t/a still pretty much stock with 28,000 mile and garage since new 54 miles . Mods are slp frame connectors and tower brace .sam 35/22 sway bars and koni s/a on lower perch and rear isolator remove, with 5/8 heator hose . Any one know what is going on here? and my warranty ran out last year, but should i take it back to the dealer and show them thanks for any help.
ps. nothing hit the windshield on the outsideLast edited by ou812; 05-06-2007 at 06:44 PM. Reason: wrong words

What kind of tower brace do you have, a 2 point or 3 point? If you have a 3 point(shaped like a triangle and bolts to the firewall area above the intake I believe), thats the source of your problem. The 3 point ones are known to crack the windshields.

you are right there is an inside and outside piece of glass the dealer wont cover glass breakage your insurance probably will sometimes glass just breaks it may have had a "shell" on the edge and finally cracked or maybe it was the stb? i havent heard of that but who knows good luck

like y2kpewterss said, 3 point braces have been known to do that.

Hi,
it's a two point brace ,but if the dealer wont cover it it's still not that noticeable, since it lay the same as the wipers and just and inch above it. Just before this happen i was getting on the car pretty hard , some how it had to twist to crack a windshield ,but thank for your reply.

Call your insurance company and see what they say. In Florida they'll replace it once for free with full coverage.
