Cooling system
Hey Fellas
Just wondering on my 98 ls1 formy A4 (or our cars) how is the factory cooling system limitations (while still running stock stat,auto fans, shroud etc.) when does it tax the system? horsepower wise? I'm building mine slowly how long can i keep using the factory stuff before the inevitable happens!? that slow needle rise to the red without it never coming back down! my example would be = (while runnin a/c its 90-120 ish out in Vegas while stop an go on the blvd) also helpful what CFM do the dual fans have? I guess i love vegas cruises alot and according to slp i have atleast the "350 PerformancePac" or better, any help thanks in advance!Last edited by travs98ls1; 07-01-2010 at 06:54 PM.
98' Firebird Formula ls1 a4 slp's CAI, slp lid,K&N, slp smooth bellow,bored and descreened stock maf installed, have slp 85MM MAf but wont run right till its tuned,Triflow catback, 2.73's

i am running patriot stage 2.5 (port polished too the limits) 224/226 566/568 112 cam and still using stock T-stat runs great. unless you are seriously modding the hell out of it you are fine with the factory...i am not a fan of the 160 stat..personal preference though.

Nice!! hell yeah one day mine will be as wicked as some of the fellas in here if i quit givin it away to vegas lol... hence my very slow build, of course over here we have the "ghey" smog, so prolly no wicked cam over here as hoped, smog is easier in NV, not so brutul there my brother has an 04 GTO ls1 wicked as can get, "540 horse N/A"! M6 still "passes" there smog with its awesome cam, keeps foamin my beer lumps so much lol
