    Chrome Wheels

I've been thinking about getting some new wheels and I really like chrome, tho I am lucky to have a white car, meaning that practically any color will go well with my car. I hate the way the chrome starts to peel. Is there any way to prevent this? Is there a better alternative?

Polished aluminum will give you essentially the same or better look. The only problem is that they need to be routinely maintained.

To answer your original question though, chrome is a final finish and I think only comes with clear coat from the factory. Aftermarket chrome wheels won't. I could be wrong though.

Some people have removed the clear protective coating on their wheels all-together and use sealers on them instead in order to prevent them from getting pitted/deposits. Once you remove the clear coat though, they require more maintenance (cleaning more often).

Most aftermarket polished AL wheels do not have the clear coat.

Yep, love polished aluminum but the maintenance comes with it
Chrome cleans really easily but like you said with time you have pitting and peeling.

one of the reasons way chrome peels is because it is left untreated , you have to treat it like paint polish and make sure when you take it to the carwash they dont put acid on the rims.Only soap for my rims and i have had my rims for more than two years and no peeling, before that i put acid when ever i took it to the car wash and they wouldnt last 6 months.

I've never had any problems with my chrome wheels. Soap only.
