Change Oil light?
Who can reset this maybe even bypass it permenantly? Where can I take it? How much would they charge typically for resetting it?
I just had my oil changed probably 1K miles ago. And it already came on.
It only stays on for about a minute or so after start up, I am guessing that is normal.

or turn the key on, immediately press the gas petal to the floor and release it three times in 5 seconds and then turn the key off

Almsot all of them say to use the trip reset button, doesn't work on a lot of cars. If it doesn't, do teh pedal thing

Nevermind, found my answer. They didn't start the oil change light until 1999. I read that 98's had the technology but it could only be found in Auto Tap. Does that mean the dealership can plug their computer in and tell whether or not the oil needs changed?

No, the car doesn't really know whether the oil needs to be changed or not, it simply calculates oil life based on temps, miles since it was last reset, etc.

It says to turn the car key to the run position when you do it, do not start the car, have it on the run spot so lights and radio come on. Hold button till it goes off. Shut off car. Turn it back on. This will not work if your car is running, at least it did not for me.
On a side not for gauges, why the hell does it say "Check Gauges" when you are running low on fuel. I spaced out on a 16 hour day after work and did not get gas, I was pretty out of it and could not figure what the hell was wrong. Most cars have low fuel lights. Check guages was a little generic.

Check the production date on it, it is on the RPO sticker, money says it was actually made in 1998, and late 98 at that.

Do the smash the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds of turning the key on, engine off. This way you will not lose your trip counter. To verify, start your car and the light should not be on for 2 minutes. Do this after you change the oil, then you don't have to change it again until the light comes on again. Very useful system.
