"Change Oil" light
Recently, my change oil light came on. The oil is pretty new, about 2000 mi. It looks clean, there's plenty of oil, and I've got good pressure. Can anybody tell me what determines when the light comes on. It's on an '02 T/A. I'm going to change the oil this week any way, but I'd like to see if there is a bigger problem.

you must have a lead foot!! It all depends on the way you drive. The cars computer makes calculations on how you drive. Sometimes it might be sooner when the light comes out

The light is set to come on bout every 5000 miles..You need to reset it when you change the oil.

Hold down the trip button, while key in on position and car off, until the light blinks a couple times.

To Reset:
Turn the key into the run position but dont start the car. Push in your trip odometer button and hold it in untill your change oil light blinks (takes like 10 secs?)

I know that the what the others have said works. There's also way to do it where you push the gas pedal like three times with the key in the acc position. I don't remember the exact procedure though. Just know that there is more than one way to skin a cat.

Might be another '98 thing - think I read somewhere the '98 doesn't have a check gauges light either?????? Mine has only come on once since I bought it new, thinking the GM oil life system resets itself when you lose power or reprogram your tune.
