    Center taillight panel bird removal

^ title. There was a link in a stickied thread, but it didn't work and was removed. What is the recommended method to remove the red firebird and lettering from the center taillight panel?

ive done this before and it worked quite well...i used nail polish remover and q-tips and or a rag, then i used a scratch remover type polish for paint and or plastic, after i got the letters and bird off...just be careful and dont get the nail polish remover on your paint of course

I did mine in under 30 min. Just wet-sanded using 1000 up to 2000 grit. No swirl marks or scratches

Cool, just dry sanding? Did you wax it after or anything?

Also, unbeknownst to me, my plastic polish wasn't meant to cut, so I used turd-le wax paint polishing stuff. Was a little better, but the letter and bird imprints are still visible as well as a few imperfections. I'll sand the center later if it ends up my car but my dad might put silver stickers back on so it acts as a good guide for placement. It looks like stealth bird/lettering really

on my 96 firebird i used a green sotch brite pad and made sure the panel stayed wet, gave it a cool matte finish similar to brushed aluminum.i could have polished it out to be glossy again but i kinda liked the look.

Sand it with 100o wet till it's gone you can even use 800 and buff it if you have a machine if not just get a spray can of duplicolor clear at any auto store a couple light coats and a final wet and it'll shine like new.

Or you could just buy a brand new one without the bird lol. I think whoever owned my car before me went that route. No trace that a bird was ever on that center section.

IIRC they are available online for about 70 bucks. Or you can get brand new ones with the bird on it in any of the original GM styles.
