    Cam questions

Ok everybody. Pardon my stupidity about cams. If I put a .585" intake/exhaust (228/230 int/exh), stock heads, surely i would jave to have it tuned wouldn't I? Would the damn thing even start?

Tune required for sure. It is possible the thing wouldn't hardly start/run without a tune.

It'll probably start, but dont run it for long or you will foul the shit out of your plugs and throw a shitload of codes if it stays running.

Should start. It will idle rough and might doe out a few times untill the PCM learns but other than that it should fire rite up if you install everything the right way. Also remember not to hammer it for about 24 hours. The springs need at least one complete heat cycle to break in.

Regardless of whether or not it runs, OP will need to get a tune regardless to optimize the way the car performs with the new cam. There's no sense in installing one without a tune.

The only thing he NEEDS is a tune. Everything else is optional.

With a cam I was told by every mechanic I talked to about my car that I would need a stall or it would not run right.

I agree. He will need it to really bring out the true potential of the cam, but the car can still be driven w/o one.

It has a six speed. well, i felt pretty sure it would need a tune. but i was concerned i wouldn't even be able to drive it to a place that did tunes.
